The Foundry

This is the world we build around Joe. A dark, old foundry, one shaft of daylight, warm work lamps, and heavy steel parts moving down the line behind him.

How the Foundry gets built

Joe is lit bright

The foundry stays dark. Joe doesn't. He's lit to his standard on the stage, and the world is built around him, so the contrast is what finds him in the frame.

One shot, seated

Joe in the chair for the full :30. One continuous shot, a slow zoom from wide to close. The line runs behind him and stops at "no assembly line."

The parts

The line carries small steel parts, the widgets. They're built in CG, so they move the way Joe wants and can still be adjusted after the shoot.

People on the floor

Frame C shows workers on the line. We'll keep them distant and anonymous, or clear the floor entirely, depending on what the Bar is comfortable with.

What happens next

Our VFX artist builds a test of the Foundry, framed for the seated shot, with the line moving. Signage and any text in the reference come out of the build.

Joe sees the built frames for sign-off by October 20. He sits down in it on October 29.
